Harman Phoenix II is the second-generation colour film from Harman Technology, made entirely at the company's Mobberley factory in the UK. Following the cult success of the original Phoenix, this new emulsion has been completely reformulated from the ground up. Every layer has been redesigned, with new dyes, new couplers and an experimental layer construct that delivers finer grain, smoother contrast and a wider exposure latitude, all while keeping the unmistakable Phoenix character that turned heads first time around.

In 35mm, Phoenix II is a versatile everyday companion for the creatively minded. The 36 exposure DX-coded cassette drops straight into any 35mm camera, ready to capture punchy colour, pronounced halation in high-contrast scenes and the kind of unconventional palette you simply do not get from mainstream films. There is no orange mask, so colour rendition feels distinctly analogue, and skin tones have been refined for far more flattering portrait work than the original ever managed.

It still rewards careful metering, but the wider latitude makes it more forgiving across mixed lighting. Adventurous shooters can also push it through E6 or ECN-2 for completely different looks.
