Despite reaching 100mm, the lens keeps the same 73 millimetre diameter, the same 58mm filter thread and the same follow focus gear position as the rest of the V-AF series, and adds only 13 millimetres of length over the wider primes. Weight comes in at just 272 grams, so swapping from a 35mm or 45mm V-AF onto a gimbal or drone needs minimal rebalancing. A linear STM autofocus motor delivers fast, near-silent focus pulls that work seamlessly with Sony's Real-Time Tracking AF, while a custom switch on the barrel toggles between aperture control and a smooth, 300-degree manual focus throw. Hold the lens button for two seconds and the Focus Save function memorises a focal distance and recalls it instantly, perfect for tight portrait and interview work. LED tally lamps on the front and mount index show recording status at a glance. Optically the 100mm covers up to 8K full-frame sensors with the same unified colour tone as the rest of the V-AF range, and a nine-blade rounded iris keeps backgrounds smooth at portrait subject distances. A T2.3 aperture is slightly stopped down from the T1.9 wider primes due to the longer focal length, but still bright enough for low-light interview, beauty and product work.
